Well what an unusual month June has been this year. In many parts of the country gardeners have been dealing with wet and cold and un-summer like conditions. June 2016 has also been the month when the country made the momentous decision to do something quite different, and leave the EU. It has been an unusual and important month for Genus too. This is the first year we will be exhibiting at the RHS Hampton Court show with our own trade stand. It’s really exciting the business has grown to this point and we are now ready to “go large” and introduce our gardening clothes to a really big audience. The Hampton Court show expects around 130,000 visitors annually, that's a lot of gardeners and gardening enthusiasts!
Preparing a show garden takes between two to three weeks. It's going to take us a day or so to build our stand, but there has been lots of preparation. To get the Genus stand ready we have been working hard for the last two months bringing in more stock from our machinists, preparing the clothing items for the stand, finding tradesmen to build our mobile shop and changing rooms, organising our sales team who all happen to be experienced gardeners, and printing more publicity material for press day and product specifications for new customers keen to try our gardening clothes.
Phew! Lots of logistical stuff to keep us very, very, busy. There hardly seems to have been any time to do anything else – other than dealing with a rampant growth of weeds brought about by the rain. Stealing a couple of hours weeding in the garden is now something we relish as a break from the lifting of stock boxes and wielding of hammers, nails and spreadsheets.
Billed as the biggest flower show of the year, trade stands are asked to dress themselves with a floral theme. Genus will be using the colour orange and flowers such as Calendula as the floral design mascot. In the psychology of colour orange signifies warmth, innovation, enthusiasm, energy and communication: all traits embodied in the Genus philosophy.
So, come along to the RHS Hampton Court show and be sure to visit our stand HC538 when you are there.
Just had these trousers less than a week and love them so much, wearing them mostly for dog walking. Can’t tell you how good they are, fell over a tree stump and went down on my knees, the padding has prevented any bruising or soreness, brilliant.
