Podcast - Mic the gardener

A passionate gardener and designer, Mike Palmer has recently launched his own podcast.  He already had a busy Instagram account where you can see him live on his ‘Sunday Stroll’, showing us round his garden and sharing his knowledge. Mike also hosts Instagram interviews with well-known names in the horticultural world.  A natural with people, it was only a matter of time before he turned to podcasts.

As a fellow gardener, his in-depth podcast chats have a relaxed conversational feel whilst covering lots of ground.  There’s a great interview with gardener,  journalist and podcaster, Tamsin Westhorpe talking about her broad-ranging career, from gardening in parks and working as an interior landscaper, to teaching and editing The English Garden magazine.  She is now back gardening and curating her family’s garden Stockton Bury in Herefordshire, which opens to the public.  Last year her book ‘Diary of a Country Gardener’ was well received. Tamsin has an inspiring can-do approach to life and makes a great interviewee.

Michael also talks to flamboyant florist and presenter Simon Lycett about his life and career.  And author Lia Leendertz discusses her journey into writing the popular Almanac, a beautifully illustrated guide to the seasons, complete with mindful tips on appreciating the moment by really observing what’s happening in the garden throughout the months.

It’s still early days for the podcast, so you won’t be overwhelmed with episodes and can follow Mike on his journey.  I wonder who is up next?
