Once you’ve chosen the seeds from the catalogue, it’s useful to watch the seed company’s selection of videos representing their various ranges.  Rob Smith demonstrates everything from how to grow salads for summer to cucumber and pea shoots.  In one video we learn how to use seed tape and he explains the benefits for those who might struggle with fiddly seeds, and how fun it is to use with children – you can even make letters and shapes in the soil.

For those with limited space, The Stacks of Flavour series of videos is all about growing flavoursome fruit and vegetables in the Suttons’ rustic crates – perfect for balconies.  We are shown how to grow everything from radishes to cut and come again lettuces and chillis.  The videos also show how to harvest the surprisingly large crop grown in these small containers, especially herbs which need to be cropped regularly.

For those in search of something more unusual, Kew-trained botanist James Wong presents a range of content on the channel on how to grow exotic vegetables in connection with his Homegrown Revolution seed range.  He recommends cuca melons, tiny cucumbers with a tinge of lime that are easy to grow and great in salads or plunged into vinegar.

He also eulogises about micro greens, inca berries, UK-grown musk melons, goji berries and alpine snow strawberries, as well as edible house plants including kefir lime and wasabi.  And his series on quick and easy ways to supercharge the flavour of your homegrown fruit and veg include tips such as adding aspirin to your tomatoes!
